Back to Exercise
If you are recovering from surgery or finishing physical therapy, but are not quite ready or comfortable to get back on the playing field or into the gym, let our staff develop a workout that is specific to your needs and will help you return to your healthy lifestyle. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) Treatment Program
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder that interferes with a woman’s normal ovulation and is the most common cause of infertility in women. PCOS may also cause a variety of other health problems, such as metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. At The St. Luke Hospitals, we have developed a Center of Excellence specifically to treat women with PCOS. One of the keys to managing PCOS is lowering insulin levels and maintaining a healthy body weight. Daily exercise for at least 30 minutes promotes weight loss and improves the body’s use of insulin; which helps to relieve many of the symptoms of PCOS.
In addition to physician consultation, fitness experts from the Sports Health & Wellness Center work to assess the fitness needs of patients with PCOS and offer instruction and supervision to ensure they reach their goals. PCOS Treatment Program Members will have access to the Fitness Center during the following hours: Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Friday 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
